Wyeeboo Community Centre
We were engagded by the Towong Shire Council to design a new community pavilion for the football and netball clubs in Tallangatta Valley, NE Victoria.
Tallangatta Valley is a short drive from the township of Tallangatta, which is famous for being moved in the 1950s from its original location on the edge of lake Hume. This was to allow for the increase in the lakes capacity. A plaque at the local look out shows images of wooden buildings being transported on the backs of trucks.
The new pavilion is to replace an existing building that no longer meets the needs of the local community. The roof of the existing building, however, is supported by a series of timber trusses built from straight eucalyptus trees in 1917. The new building has been designed to utilise and showcase these original trusses.
